Development

Governments, teaching institutes, the business sector and cattle farmers are all working together on Dairy Campus to secure a better position for the Dutch dairy sector on the global market.

They do this by means of innovative projects focusing on sustainability, animal welfare and efficiency. Here are a few examples of recent projects:

Manure

This project involves various parties from the business sector trying to refine minerals from manure in order to produce alternatives to artificial fertilisers. The gases released while the manure is refined are already being converted into electricity and used to heat hundreds of homes.

Smart Dairy Farming

Companies, knowledge institutes and dairy farmers are developing smart technology that enables individual cows to be monitored more accurately. The results of the new monitoring system will help dairy farmers to care for their herds and will ultimately lead to a longer life expectancy for cattle.
