Administrative Assistant - Cut Flowers and Potted Plants

Location Alkmaar, Den Haag, Drachten, Holten, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel of Wageningen

Your job

In this position, you will collect and administer financial and sustainability data from agricultural businesses for the Business Information Network (BIN). You will maintain your own portfolio of businesses dealing in cut flowers and pot plants, supplemented with businesses from other horticultural sectors (e.g. greenhouse vegetables, flower bulbs or tree nurseries). You will also be responsible for managing relationships with these horticulturalists. You will therefore work closely with our BIN participants at one of our offices in the region: Alkmaar, The Hague, Drachten, Holten, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel or Wageningen.

You will also be responsible for relationship management with these entrepreneurs. That means working near our FADN participants from one of our regional offices: Alkmaar, The Hague, Drachten, Holten, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel, or Wageningen.

The Farm Accountancy Data Network (www.wur.nl/bedrijveninformatienet) is a network of approximately 1,500 agricultural and horticultural businesses, 100 trawlers and other fishing vessels, and 150 forestry companies. At Wageningen Social & Economic Research around 65 administrative assistants maintain this network.

The main tasks and activities as an administrative assistant for cut flowers and pot plants:

  • collecting financial and sustainability data from a fixed group of FADN companies. You obtain this information from business administration records, digital sources (e.g., e-invoices), farm accountancy records, or by conducting surveys with the entrepreneurs. You then enter this data into a database and make it available to fellow researchers;
  • maintaining relationships with FADN participants. You create an annual report for the entrepreneur that includes business results and key environmental indicators, and you produce a digital business comparison overview in MijnAgrimatie.nl. During your visit to the entrepreneur, you explain both reports and answer any questions. At the same time, you begin the data collection process for the new year. Each year, you also recruit a few new participants to the FADN to replace natural turnover. After your onboarding period, you will be on the road about one day per week in a full-time position.
