10. Milking parlour

The milking parlour has a 40-stall external rotary milking platform. Around 120-150 cows can be milked per hour here by one person. This person connects the clusters, after which they are removed automatically. The rotary parlour has electronic milk monitoring and sampling facilities.
All the cows are milked twice per day, which enables the effect of a research treatment on milk production to be measured more accurately. Milk is immediately and rapidly cooled down to 3°C, after which it is piped to the milk storage tanks.

We have one robotic milking system on site which is used for research and practice-based learning. The average milk production at Dairy Campus is more than 9,000 kg per cow per lactation.
